Faculty and Staff
The faculty and staff at the Wizdom Academy are chosen for their ability to relate to the students and parents. It should be noted that all instructors at the school play and teach more than one instrument but for this site, each musician has been highlighted on their specialty. However, for the purposes of this site each is listed with their primary instrument. The following is a list of the members who teach at the school. Each one has years of experience and their abilities are well developed.
Drums
Tyce Burrows (Boler Road) Tyce was one of Karl's students for 5 years and became an instructor for the Academy in 2010. Tyce is a top rate percussionist who has won numerous awards for his playing. His latest was top soloist in the Kiwanis Festival 2010. Tyce is a mutli- instrumentalist and highly creative musician.
Nick Ireland (Denlaw Road) is the drummer for the band Battle Soul and has done a number of recordings with that band. His specialty is Heavy Metal but he has a strong grounding in Jazz and Technique. He has been with the Academy since 2009. He is an extremely talented drummer who's specialty includes double bass drumming and more aggressive styles of music.
Guitar and Bass Guitar
Mark Chandler is one of the most amazing bass guitarists you will come into contact with. He performs in numerous bands including Orchidectomy, Ataxia and Falling into Infinity. He plays 4, 5 and 6 string bass as well as standard 6 string guitar. Mark specializes in Heavy Metal Music but like all teachers in the school is well versed in all styles of music. Mark is known for his ability to "sweep pick" on bass guitar and has developed many techniques used only by a few top bass players in the world.
Nigel Curley owns and operates the Guest Ave location. He is a guitarist who awes people when he performs, his speed and accuracy is unrivaled in Ontario and possibly Canada. He actually melted a pick during a band practice with Falling Into Infinity. Like many of the musicians at the Academy Nigel specializes in Heavy Metal music and plays with the Band Excruciating Thoughts, Ataxia and Falling Into Infinity. Nigel also plays bass guitar in Trainwreck the schools disabled band. I defy you to find a better guitarist in the Ontario region, period.
Graehme Floyd owns and operates the Denlaw studio. Graehme performs regularly in his church band as well as with Avidas a Symphonic Metal band who have just released their first CD. Graehme is a phenomenal musician who has a strong background in theory as well as technical playing. Graehme, not satisfied to be in a couple of bands also performs with Falling Into Infinity and Trainwreck. Graehme is also a pianist and a buddy drum set player. He is totally committed to his vocation as a musician even after he finished his degree in Physics and Computer Science at UWO.
Nathan Oullette came to the school in 2009 and quickly established himself as a top player. Nathan specializes in Blues music and leads his own band The Nathan Oulette band which has released a CD in 2009. Nathan also does freelance playing and recently performed with an Elton John Tribute which received rave reviews.
Piano and Keyboards
Mike Szczeiwicz is our resident pianist. He has a strong background in music through the conservatory system as well as UWO. Mike performs classical music but also has a love for contemporary music in particular Punk Rock and Alternative music. He also has a strong understanding of theory and writes his own music.
